Bud Light apologized after they printed a controversial message on their beer bottles. Internet activists were up in arms after someone uploaded a photo of a bottle with the message, “The perfect beer for removing ‘no’ from your vocabulary for the night.”
Honestly, it should be pretty obvious that Bud Light wasn’t promoting anything rape-related. We think people are just being too sensitive.
But most people on the Internet saw it a different way.
From Daily Mail:
Users on platforms such as Imgur and Twitter have claimed the message is ‘rapey’ and that it advocates irresponsible alcohol consumption.
The message described the alcoholic beverage as: ‘The perfect beer for removing “No” from your vocabulary for the night. #UpforWhatever.’
On Imgur, comments for a page which showed a photo of the beer bottle included ‘Bud Light-Rapey-Vibes’ from one user.
‘Bud Light – now with free roofies in every six pack!’ a Imgur user wrote.
A Redditor commented ‘I’ve heard about rape drugs, but rape beer.. Damn somebody f***ed up in marketing.’
