In times like the one I just described, you’d really wish that someone would read over the nonsense for you, then give you some of the key points so that you don’t have to deal with reading the entire article filled with dribble yourself.

Well, this time, I foolishly volunteered as tribute.

The piece, titled “10 Things Every Intersectional Feminist Should Ask On a First Date” from everydayfeminism.com is as frustratingly awful as you’d expect.

First off, the author, Lara Witt, started off the article with the 6 words “As a queer femme of color…”

In case you skipped the first line, don’t worry, she refers to that label in almost every paragraph of every point, but let’s press on.

“As a queer femme of color, I keep close relationships with people who go beyond allyship; they’re true accomplices in the fight against white supremacy, queerphobia, and misogyny. If you’re not going to support marginalized folks, then we can’t be friends, let alone date. The personal is political.

Beyond the lovely cushioning, happiness and support that we receive from our platonic relationships (which are, in all honesty, soul-feeding and essential), feminists also date! But there are questions we have to ask before we get close to someone.”

Okay, so glazing over all the crazy idealistic stuff, what she’s essentially saying is it’s good to be with someone at least somewhat similar to you idealistically.

Now, let’s dive into her top 10:

1. Do you believe that Black Lives Matter?

2. What are your thoughts on gender and sexual orientation?

3. How do you work to dismantle sexism and misogyny in your life?

4. What are your thoughts on sex work?

5. Are you a supporter of the BDS movement?

6. What is your understanding of settler colonialism and indigenous rights?

7. Do you think capitalism is exploitative?

8. Can any human be illegal?

9. Do you support Muslim Americans and non-Muslim people from Islamic countries?

10. Does your allyship include disabled folks?

You know the sad thing? I actually agree with her on some of these points. Why is it not okay to pay someone for sex (prostitution,) but completely okay for us to pay someone to have sex on the condition that you film and distribute it (porn.) Even if I’m not partaking in the acts, it seems like a strange system.

That being said, if I was talking to a girl on a first date and we somehow got on the topic of sex work (how tho?) and it turned out she was completely against it existing, it’s not like I’d completely write the girl off.

You’re never going to find someone who agrees with you on every single thing, and honestly, provided that one isn’t trying to utilize said sex workers, that’s not a terribly important topic in a relationship.

If you want to read the whole list with a few paragraphs defending each point because you’re a sucker for that stuff, here you go, you weirdo.

While Copperfield conceded that the #MeToo movement was “crucial and long overdue,” he encouraged caution, saying we can’t “rush to judgment.” Similarly to how he survived another false assault allegation, he said he’d “weather another storm.”

The accuser, Brittany Lewis, claims that after one of his shows, Copperfield, then 32, took her to a bar and drugged her before assaulting her in a hotel room.

From The Wrap:

After the show, Lewis said, Copperfield invited her to a bar. She said she had barely touched her drink when she noticed him pouring something into her glass.

“I asked, ‘What are you doing?’ and he said, ‘Oh, I’m just sharing,’” Lewis said.

She said she took a few sips after that and blacked out. The rest is hazy. She said she remembers bits and pieces of that night, mostly flashes of herself being carried out to a cab, and him inside her hotel room wearing a black robe with shoulder pads. She said she remembers him on top of her, kissing her, and his breath smelling bad. She said her room was connected to his by a door.

“I remember my clothes being taken off,” she said. “He was kissing my face and then I remember him starting to go down on my body with his face, and then, as soon as he started going down, I just completely blacked out.”

The next morning, she said, she woke up feeling sick and nauseated. Copperfield came in through the connecting door shortly after, she said.

“He wanted to me know that nothing happened because I was underage,” she said. “He said: ‘I didn’t enter you.’”

“There was no fluid but he could have had a condom,” she added.

Be careful out there, guys. The more of these I see, the more and more friendly the sexual consent legal apps are looking…

I don’t think so, and I’m willing to bet none of you feel that way either, and that’s why a recent revelation about the esteemed Oxford University’s testing practices is making me a bit heated today.

According to reports, Oxford University is increasing test time for women to try to combat all the low scores that women were getting.

According to a report from The Telegraph:

Students taking maths and computer science examinations in the summer of 2017 were given an extra 15 minutes to complete their papers, after dons ruled that “female candidates might be more likely to be adversely affected by time pressure”. There was no change to the length or difficulty of the questions.

It was the first time such steps had been taken. In previous years, the percentage of male students awarded first class degrees was double that of women and in 2016 the board of examiners suggested that the department make changes to improve women’s grades.

But the funny thing about this is that it didn’t even do what they wanted it to. the main effect of the time increase was that male students did even better, and the women students did worse.

Men were awarded more first class degrees than women in the two subjects that were being tested.

Some women defended the move, even after seeing the results. Antonia Siu, Undergraduate Representative of Oxford Women in Computer Science, said: “I am uneasy about schemes to favour one gender over another.

“But I am happy when people see gaps between groups of people who should not reasonably have such gaps – such as between genders, races or class – and take that as a starting point to think about the kinds of people they unintentionally are leaving behind.”

So, in other words: Screw the results, as long as I can feel good and I still have something to bitch about.

It’s a very lengthy segment, so I just wanted to highlight a few of my favorites.

During the debate, one of the points of contention was surrounding a law which makes using the wrong gender pronouns a criminal act.

Ms. Newman said: “You got in trouble for refusing to call trans men and women by their preferred personal pronouns.”

Mr. Peterson was quick to correct the reporter, saying: “That’s not actually true. I got in trouble because I said that I would not follow the compelled speech dictates of the federal and provincial Government.

“I actually never got in trouble for not calling anyone anything.”

When Ms. Newman challenged how he could justify his right to free speech over a trans person’s right to not be offended (lol) he quickly shot back a response that was so well put that it left her with nothing to say.

He said: “Because in order to be able to think you have to risk being offensive. Look at the conversation we are having right now.

“You are certainly willing to risk offending me in the pursuit of truth, why should you have the right to do that?

“It’s been rather uncomfortable.”

He added: “You’re doing what you should do, but you’re exercising your freedom of speech to certainly risk offending me. And that’s fine. More power to you, as far as I’m concerned.”

When the reporter noticeably had no retort readily available, he said: “Ha! Gotcha.”

Ms. Newman admitted: “You have got me, you have got me. I’m trying to work that out in my head. It took a while.”

Last week, a 23-year-old photographer based out of Brooklyn given the code name of “Grace” gave her account to the trifling website Babe.net. In this story, she called her date “the worst night of my life.”

Ansari then responded saying he was a little “surprised and concerned” that the girl felt like whatever happened wasn’t consensual.

Since then, the accuser and the trashy publication that ran the smear piece have come under heavy fire from many sources, including other publications like the Atlantic and the New York Times.

A few days ago, on her show, Banfield said she had something to say to the accuser, who conveniently was allowed to stay anonymous.

“Dear Grace — not your real name, I’m sorry you had a bad date,” Banfield started. “I’ve had a few myself. They stink.”

“I’m sure it must be weighing on you — it’s hard being a victim. … But let’s take a moment to reflect on what you claim was the ‘worst night of your life,'” she said.

Banfield then went on to give an overview of what happened that night, per the victims testimony:

“Your date got overly amorous. After protesting his moves, you did not get up and leave right away. You continued to engage in the sexual encounter.

“By your own clear description, this wasn’t a rape, nor was it a sexual assault. By your description, your sexual encounter was ‘unpleasant.’ It did not send you to the police, it did not affect your workplace, or your ability to get a job.”

“So I have to ask you: What exactly was your beef?” Banfield said.

She then went on to say that instead of going to the press, which is a clear cry for attention, she should have gone to the police if she felt assaulted.

Banfield also asked the anonymous accuser whether her “bad date” was what led her to feel so “victimized … to the point of seeking a public conviction.”

“But what you have done, in my opinion, is appalling,” Banfield said. “You have chiseled away at a movement that I, along with all of my sisters in the workplace, have been dreaming of for decades, a movement that has finally changed an oversexed professional environment that I, too, have struggled through at times over the last 30 years.

“You had an unpleasant date. And you did not leave. That is on you. And all the gains that have been achieved on your behalf and mine are now being compromised by the allegations that you threw out there — and I’m going to call reckless and hollow.”

And she’s absolutely right. Every time some girl cries “rape” when nothing of the sort occurs, they not only detract from actual victims, but they make it harder for people who are actually assaulted to come forward. If they feel like no one is going to believe them because there are so many attention-seeking fakers, they’re less likely to report heinous crimes.

“LegalFling” is the answer to getting rid of that nagging feeling in the back of your head after a consensual one-night stand that she might turn psycho and accuse you of raping her after she later realizes she wished she hadn’t done the deed with you.

It calls itself the first “blockchain based app to verify explicit consent before having sex” (because every new startup needs to use the word “blockchain” in its description.)

The app allows you to put what you want and don’t want to do beforehand so that there’s no confusion during the experience. It has terms like “Photo & Video,” “Use Condom,” “STD Free,” “Explicit Language,” and “BDSM.”

The idea is that if the “dos and don’ts” are clear ahead of time, no one can call “rape” afterward.

They write:

“Sex should be fun and safe, but nowadays a lot of things can go wrong. Think of unwanted videos, withholding information about STDs and offensive porn reenactment. While you’re protected by law, litigating any offenses through court is nearly impossible in reality. LegalFling creates a legally binding agreement, which means any offense is a breach of contract. By using the Live Contracts protocol, your private agreement is verifiable using the blockchain and enforceable with a single click.”

Here’s my problem, though: I don’t whether this is a brilliant protection measure that we should start using or the product of some SJWs stroking themselves because they get aroused by “explicit consent.”

Imagine you’ve been trying to get this girl for ages, and one night you get so incredibly close. You get home from the bar, you’re both finally going to do it, but you stop her and say “Hey, before we do this, I need you to download this app, register, and read over some legal documentation before we enter a binding contract.” Seriously, that would be a huge mood killer.

But enough about my inability to decide whether this is a brilliant solution to a problem in a sad world or SJW dribble, you tell me. What do you think of this idea?
